PAO Gear Oil

PAO Gear Oil
PAO Stands for Polyalphaolefin. It is most common major synthetic base oil used in industrial and automotive lubricants. It is specially designed for excellent performance over a wide temperature range and extreme pressure.
Characteristics:
♦ Naturally high viscosity index
♦ Good oxidation stability and compatibility with mineral oils
♦ Excellent low temperature fluidity
♦ Low traction coefficient
♦ Exceptional corrosion stability
♦ High flash point and low pour point
♦ High demulsibility
Application:

PAO based synthetic gear oil is used if the equipment’s operating environment and conditions are harsh, the temperature runs extremely high or low. It is recommended for:

♦ Modern, highly loaded gearboxes used in the paper, steel, oil, textile, lumber
♦ Cement industries where gear protection and optimum oil life are required.
♦ Used in machines such as marine, wind turbine specifically heavy loaded gearbox.
Benefits:
♦ Excellent oxidation and thermal stability
♦ Excellent resistance to rust and corrosion and very good demulsibility
♦ Outstanding filter life even in presence of water
♦ Enhance wear protection
♦ Reduce flammability
♦ Superb flow properties at low temperatures
♦ Operating cost reduces to a great extent because POA gear oil Increase oil change intervals.
Limitations:
♦ Non-biodegradable
♦ Comparatively expensive
♦ Seal shrinkage risk
♦ Limited additive solubility
